It might be a little early yet to do a true Favorite Tools post, as I’ve only been regularly paper crafting for a few months, and most of that has been for my Project Life album. But it might help some of you who are as experienced as I am (which is to say, not very), and it’d probably be nice to look back on this post when I’m a little more seasoned to see how things have changed!
So, discounting the tools I highlighted in last Tuesday’s post, here are some of my favorites for paper crafting. (Disclosure: buying from these links helps me out!)
EK Success Zig 2-Way Chisel Glue Pen
My favorite glue. Strong stuff, and acid free if it matters to your projects.
Fiskars 12-Inch Surecut Deluxe Paper Trimmer
I have an older, smaller version of this trimmer, but I’ll probably replace it with this one when the blades get dull. The wire shows you exactly where the trimmer will cut, which makes it perfect for cutting down Instagrams, or slicing 4×6′s in half for Project Life.
Washi Tape: Wishy Washi Tape, Cute Tape, Freckled Fawn
I am so addicted to washi tape that I couldn’t choose just one type or just one store! Yes, it’s an adhesive and it’s usually easy to take right off in case you need your photo back. But it can also be used to create flower vases out of bottles, redesign a table, and do all sorts of other things with it!
Uchida Corner Punch, Rounded
The fancy little thing that makes all of my photos and journaling cards in my Project Life album nice and rounded. I don’t use ANYTHING ELSE in my arsenal as much as I use this thing.
Silhouette Cameo Electronic Cutting Tool
I used to covet the Cricut, but I’m really glad I got this instead. This machine is definitely an investment for the long term. I got it a few months ago and I’m still learning about all the cool things you can do with it and the Silhouette Studio software. You can buy various shapes for only $0.99 a pop and it’s all digital, so you don’t have to spend money or space on physical cartidges. Aside from cutting normal titles and embellishments for scrapping, I’ve made vinyl stickers, stencils/masks, and even fun boxes for Hugga to fold up and glue together. You can also hook up pens and use it to sketch, which I haven’t even learned how to do yet. It was pricey, but definitely the best craft purchase I think I’ve ever made in my life.
There are some other things I love to use, like punches, embellishments, pens, and ahem, stamps. These may come in a future post, so keep your eyes peeled!
