Hi, I’m Theresa, I’m 29, and I live in Los Angeles, California. I was born and raised in New England, met my first love at a rave when I was 18, partied for five years, reconnected with my first love and got knocked up a year after college graduation, and married him on October 2, 2009, when our little one was about to turn two years old. Huz and I have moved between Connecticut and California at least four times, but made our final move back to Los Angeles in 2010. We now have two girls, whom I refer to as Hugga (the big) and Squeaky (the little). These three are my favorite people on the planet.

I work full-time from home as a technical writer, do some extracurricular freelance writing, and I’m a Creative Writing MFA dropout. In addition to my blog on Hyphen, where I write about issues affecting the Asian American community, you may have seen my work on Racialicious or Offbeat Mama. My other hobbies are reading, taking pictures, collaging, scrapbooking, knitting, crocheting, and learning how to be crafty.

Single Spaced is a chronicle of my life as a clumsy crafter and work-at-home mom. It is a record of adventures in motherhood, mishaps in crafting, and my many (at times, failed) attempts to stay sane through it all. I am not about that mommy martyrdom bullshit. I love my kids and my husband, but I take time to do me, to preserve my roll-out condition (the best version of me in case my husband decides to roll out), to learn new things, and do what I want to do. And I don’t feel guilty about it (anymore).

A couple of things that should probably be obvious if you’ve been reading me for any period of time. I am not religious, so you won’t be seeing much God or prayer talk around these parts. Secondly, I curse a lot around here. In other words, if you’re looking for good, wholesome family fun, you might want to mosey on over to a different blog.

Likes: not wearing pants, hip hop, coffee, bacon, desserts for breakfast, Apple crap, green candy, bright Nikes, paper and office supplies, zines, English and French bulldogs, vintage cameras, The Walking Dead, Tokidoki, thunderstorms, lowrider bikes, and stuff that is pink or otherwise kawaii.

Dislikes: wearing pants, bugs of all sorts, the sound of you chewing your food, barf (seriously, I have a phobia), the non-word “irregardless,” and people who quote themselves.
